ConsenSys Announces SEC Closure of Ethereum 2.0 Inquiry

The U.S. Securities and Change Fee has concluded its investigation into Ethereum 2.0, in line with a late Tuesday announcement by cryptocurrency agency ConsenSys on social media platform X. ConsenSys had beforehand filed a lawsuit searching for an injunction towards the SEC’s regulation of the Ethereum blockchain.

ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin hailed the SEC’s resolution as “a big victory” for Ethereum. “Whereas we welcome this growth, it’s not sufficient. We should stay vigilant and proceed advocating for clear and honest laws that allow innovation to flourish,” Lubin, who additionally co-founded the cryptocurrency Ether, said on X.

Regardless of the SEC’s resolution, ConsenSys plans to proceed its lawsuit to hunt a court docket ruling that the SEC lacks authorized authority to control the user-controlled software program interfaces constructed on Ethereum or the Ethereum blockchain itself.

An SEC spokesperson declined to touch upon the existence or nonexistence of a doable investigation.

Final month, the SEC permitted purposes from Nasdaq, CBOE, and NYSE to checklist spot Ether ETFs, a shocking win for the cryptocurrency trade, which had anticipated rejections.
